Testimony of James A. Bunker

To the SUBCOMMITTEE ON NATIONAL SECURITY, EMERGING THREATS,

AND INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS, Christopher Shays, Connecticut Chairman

The Veterans Benefits Board is a good place to ask other veteran what worked for them.

Please note that a veteran service officer at your VA is the best place for help on a VA claim

Never do your own claim-----              Have a Veteran Service Officer help you--- Ask other veterans as to             the ones to use in your area..... They know who are the best

Click on this line for a copy of the letter I sent out for a  fight dealing with service connection. I need to you to also write or call your Reps in DC about them helping in this cause.  As we look over studies that are done, and see illnesses that are running at a higher than normal rate we need to get the wheels turning to get it on the list. So far only ALS, CFS and FM are on the list.

I know that all of the Gulf War 1 vets where exposed to many things, but like Agent Orange, the VA will only allow what researcher have shown to be happening to us at a much higher rate than to those that did not serve.

Vietnam Veterans need to make sure you get your Agent Orange exam updated.  If you have Type II Diabetes file your claim for it ASAP. Over the last few years there has been a lot of diseases added to the AO list.

For years,  we Have been telling every one to keep a record of the medical problems they are having and what the Doctors did for them; or what the veteran did to help them selves out.

I have talked to some veterans that knew to do this, but they did not.  If they did it would have helped them with their VA claims.

We need to get the word out to  keep going to your doctors and getting copies of those appointments. Files do get " lost".

If you go to the doctors for, say joint pain, and you have CFS or FM tell your doc that it might be from that. The same for some other illnesses,  I will post the list in the next few days.

The more you show that you are trying to get help for the problem and the more often you do, the higher the rating maybe.

Same thing with your headaches makes sure your notes have each one and what they were like and how they started.  See the doctors and do not quit, that helps to tell your doctor and RO just how bad they are.  If they are so bad that you cannot drive to the VA, and know one, else can drive you, call the VA and ask what to do.

DO NOT STOP SEEING YOU DOCTORS the VA will and has used this to decrease ratings and from giving many a higher rating.  The VA wants us to quit and some have, we need to get them back in and keep helping them.

NEVER GIVE UP and NEVER GIVE IN

We are sick and it is not in your head.

More later.

If you have any thing I could add that will help other veterans send me a E-Mail.

This site just went through a major change.  Let me know if I left something out.
